Coming from the seaside town of Brighton, The Electric Soft Parade are an English indie-rock band and at its creative centre is two brothers, Alex and Tom White.
'Misunderstanding' is from the band's fourth album, 'No need to be Down Hearted'. The lyrics employed in this song are very minimalist indeed, with no real hint to why there has been a misunderstanding.
However that's beside the point here as this is a very upbeat, sombre song that falls a tad on the short side. It lasts 2 minutes and 36 seconds in total.
The second song, 'Blue it is' accompanies this release and is actually a surprisingly darker song, very much in contrast to 'misunderstanding'. It is also as twice as long.
This song has Italian influences written all over it and wouldn't be out of place in a modern day re-make of The Godfather. The lyrics are in-depth, repetitive and the musical backing helps build a meek atmosphere.
All in all, a good single release from The Electric Soft Parade, with two very different singles from a very diverse band.
