XFM Scotland’s Jim Gellatly will be mixing some of his favourite tunes at Your Sound at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut on Sunday 2nd December from 4pm to 8pm. At this Christmas special, Jim will be joined by a host of industry insiders who will available to advise attendees with their knowledge and words of wisdom.
As one Scotland’s biggest supporters of unsigned music, Jim is an avid advocate of Your Sound. Having been the first person to play some of the UK’s big success stories of 2007 on radio before anyone else, including The Enemy, Jim certainly knows what to look for in unsigned talent.
After learning about music sales and distribution in last months seminar, December’s Your Sound will give unsigned talent the opportunity to explore ways of how to put together an effective demo – which is one of the most important steps in the music business. Bands can grasp tips and tricks from industry experts and exchange experiences from 4pm onwards.
November’s Your Sound saw Columbia A&R Sharon Stephen, Mercury Records A&R David O Hagan, Warner Bros Records Regional Scout Ali Davidson, Roddy Campbell of Glasgow Metropolitan Online Radio as well as representatives from Academy of Music and Sound, Music News Scotland, Musicians Union and British Academy of Composers and Songwriters all come together at the UKs premier music initiative to offer artists advice and guidance on all aspects of the music industry.
The Your Sound team picked the talented Lou Hicky as November’s Artist of the Month while Glasgwegian band Zoey Van Goey and Juno! Vs Manda Rin were named runners up.
