Attic Lights confirmed as Freshers headliners

By Chris Clements

GLASGOW indie rockers Attic Lights have been confirmed as headliners for the Scotcampus Freshers’ Festival next month.

The event will take place in the city’s George Square on October 3 and 4, and is an exciting addition to Scotland’s freshers’ weeks, offering the very best in music, entertainment and promotions from a large number of Scotland’s leading student-friendly businesses, such as pubs, clubs, restaurants, clothes stores and record labels.

Other acts confirmed include Isosceles, the Down and Outs and Grace Emilys.

As well as these bands, who will play in the Festival’s IRN-BRU32 Music Tent, there will be lots more happening and lots of giveaways, including a car courtesy of Social Animal; music lessons from the Glasgow Academy of Music and Sound; and beauty treatments by Caledonian Therapy Academy. There will also be a gaming zone, a paintball range courtesy of Bedlam and model scouts from Superior Model Management.

he festival is set to attract 10,000 students from Scotland and beyond and Freshers’ Festival co-founder, Graeme Barratt, believes Scotcampus has created an ideal introduction to the ways of contemporary student life.

Graeme Barratt said: "We’re delighted to now be in a position to unveil the acts for the 2008 Scotcampus Freshers’ Festival, as we know that these acts will be a big attraction for students of all ages. The Attic Lights are very much ‘of the moment’, having just released new material and playing the Hydro Connect Festival.

"The Freshers’ Festival is the ideal place for students and prospective students to pick up vital information about what’s on offer to them, from clothing, food and clubs, to health, lifestyle and academic advice. With many students leaving home for the first time, this advice will be invaluable and students can get this information for free whilst watching Scotland’s finest bands and enjoying some fantastic entertainment in the IRN-BRU 32Music entertainment tent."
