Guillemots set for secret Glasgow gig
Guillemots

By Carla Callaghan

INDIE band Guillemots have announced they will be performing a secret gig in Glasgow on April 21.

Previous secret gigs in London town sold out within minutes and with reports of the band playing encores in the foyer of London's Tabernacle venue - these gigs promise to be one-off, must see shows.

Those who snap up tickets to the Glasgow gig will have to wait until the day of the concert to find out the secret venue.

And Glasgow fans will be catching the four-piece band just days after they release their long awaited third album, 'Walk the River'.

Singer Fyfe Dangerfield talks us through 'The Basket' - the first single released from 'Walk the River'.

He said: "We all got very excited about a fuzzy riff our guitarist Magrao started playing one day and the song came out of that.

"I think in some way it's about a mania within, caused by something external, and the conflict over whether to embrace this thing or just ignore it and crawl away into familiar comforts.

"It's the most full-on, lively song on our record, and we wanted the video to throw you around as you watched it, to be full of colour and movement and a sense of constant unexpectedness."

He added: "Tom Kingsley's treatment, set in an alien woodland, really had the sense of other-worldliness that we kept feeling while making the whole album. Tom is also a Jedi, and taught us how to propel ourselves through the air at high speed for the opening scenes, using just a pack of 9V batteries and a mental technique called "croaking"."

Tickets are £15 which can be bought through the official Guillemots site www.guillemots.com
