Why not do your bit for a great charity and enjoy a fantastic night with an exceptional musical line up.
The first ever Sounds of Avalon charity concert is taking place on Saturday June 6 at Glasgow QMU and is set to host an array of great talent from Scotland and beyond.
The concert by Ann’s Angels aims to raise funds and awareness for both oesophageal cancer research through charity Ochre and for the Balcraig Foundation’s KenyaChristianHomes orphanages. The concert is in memory of Ann Boyle and all of those lost to oesophageal cancer. All proceeds from the night will be spilt between these two most worthy charities.
The lineup includes highly acclaimed, Glasgow 5 piece Attic Lights, rising stars Alto Elite, indie popsters Popup and a DJ set from the legendary Echo & The Bunnymen, plus special guests. With all of the acts donating their fees to charity, this is an extra special gig not to be missed.
The bands’ excitement and enthusiasm at being involved in this concert is truly uplifting and organisers Ann’s Angels have been hugely moved at their willing and generous participation.
Attic Lights guitarist Tim Davidson says: "For personal reasons we're very grateful to be offered this opportunity to support such an important and affecting cause."
Lead singer of Popup, Damian Gilhooly adds: “Ann Boyle was a great lady. We went to school with her children and were very sad to learn of her passing. It’s fantastic that her family have put this day together and we’re delighted to be involved.”
The concert, along with further fundraising events, aims to raise £15,000 for the charities this year. With a view to establishing The Ann Boyle scholarship for girls of the Balcraig Foundation orphanages and the purchase of vital screening equipment for oesophageal and throat cancers at the Beatson cancer institute in Glasgow.
