POLICE officers will be getting on their bikes to enhance ground security at next month’s T in the Park summer festival in Balado.
Bicycling officers will patrol the outside ground area at the popular music extravaganza, which is billed as “the UK’s Best Major Festival”.
Officers will also have access to quad bikes for working all terrains and in diverse weather conditions.
Chief Superintendent Matt Hamilton said: “We really enjoy T in the Park and look at it as a good opportunity for Tayside Police to work with other agencies and to showcase Perth & Kinross.
“We review security arrangements every year with the organisers and stewarding companies in order to dovetail our plans and to cover all eventualities.”
Around 400 police officers and support staff will be deployed over the weekend to provide 24 hour cover including traffic management and policing of the car parks, campsite and arena areas.
Officers will also be on patrol in the surrounding villages of Kinross and Milnathort.
The festival, organised by Big Day Out, is expected to attract around 80,000 visitors, including 60,000 campers, over three days from Friday July 6 to Sunday July 8.
Tickets are completely sold out.
The confirmed artists include: The Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Babyshambles, Queens of the Stone Age and the Scissor Sisters.
