Be part of this year's T in the Park with Scottish Water
Jun 18 2007
SCOTTISH Water is set to play a major role at next month’s T in the Park, ensuring the event has a permanent supply of fresh drinking water.
For the first time ever Scottish Water is supporting a stage – The Scottish Water Futures Stage – which will showcase up and coming bands who could well be main stage headliners in years to come – so it’s a great place to see the stars of the future before all your mates.
The water utility’s biggest ever presence at the festival, voted Best Major Festival in the UK Festival Awards of 2006, will coincide with the switching on of a new permanent water main into the site to ensure water is available at the turn of a tap.
Now in its 14th year, T in the Park is a huge event with a great reputation internationally. 80,000 revellers will attend this year’s festival each day and Scottish Water guarantees each and every one of those will have enough water to drink throughout the weekend. Water will be available at 30 standpipes situated around the campsite, as well as in the arena itself.
Chris Wallace, Scottish Water’s Director of Communications, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting the Futures Stage at T in the Park. We have worked closely with the event promoters over the years in terms of supplying water to the site and this year Big Day Out have installed a new water main, which will ensure that fresh drinking water is available to all festival-goers for many years to come.”
“We are used to investing in Scotland’s future – we invest millions of pounds every year in making Scotland’s water infrastructure rank among the best in the world and ensuring it meets the demands of the future.”
Annette McKie, Scottish Water’s Marketing Projects Manager, said: “Scottish Water’s presence at this year’s T in the Park will be bigger than ever before. Last year we were supporting the Fluid Grooves Bus in the campsite, but this year for the first time we have moved into the actual festival arena. Supporting the Futures Stage is something we’re really excited about and we look forward to connecting with thousands of our customers.
“Our presence at this year’s event will be a highly visible one, putting our name out there amongst some major brands and getting our healthy message across to a vibrant and predominantly young audience.”
