ST MIRREN manager Gus MacPherson last night blasted blunder ref Crawford Allan - insisting the official isn't good enough yet to take charge of SPL games. MacPherson was raging on Saturday following his side's 1-0 defeat at Inverness, which moved the Highlanders to within a point of his side. The Love Street boss wasn't happy when Allan opted only to book Caley Thistle's David Proctor for a late tackle from behind on striker Billy Mehmet. And MacPherson's mood wasn't helped when the ref then sent Buddies centre-back Will Haining off following his second booking late in the game. MacPherson said: "I'm not saying the referee has cost us the game - referees don't believe they do that - but he made some strange decisions at the weekend. "The thing which annoyed me most was that he didn't deal with a shocking tackle in the first half. "Tackles from behind have been outlawed for years but he only deemed it worthy of a yellow card. "I actually have a lot of time for Crawford Allan because he's someone you can talk to but he is young and maybe still a little bit inexperienced for this level of football. "We understand referees need to get experience but it always tends to be teams down at the bottom of the table who have to put up with that." Despite the defeat St Mirren are still nine points clear of bottom club Gretna. |
