INVERNESS boss Craig Brewster hailed his much-changed side for brushing past Gretna - then tipped them for more CIS Cup success. Brewster was delighted by the effort his men put in and believes they could be rewarded further for all their hard work. The Caley Thistle boss said: "I made six changes and all the lads who came in played their part. "We'll wait and see what the draw brings for the next round. That's a few SPL teams out of the competition and there's no reason why we can't go on a run. "I keep preaching to the players to work hard so that when they get the opportunity they take it to give me some more worries. "Alan Morgan is an example of that. He was out of the picture before I came back but I brought him here in the first place and know what he can do. "I was delighted with the way we knocked the ball about for the first 30 minutes and although we let it drop slightly we were still worthy winners." Disappointed Gretna boss Davie Irons admitted his side had only themselves to blame for exiting the competition. Irons said: "The second goal killed us as there was no way back after that. "We lost a couple of sloppy goals and we need to learn to be more tough and more resilient at this level. "I'm not doubting we've got some tidy players but there is also a time and a place for some grit and determination." |
