Hibs Ace In Call For Goal-Line Cameras

CLAYTON DONALDSON last night backed Hibs boss John Collins' call for the use of goal-line cameras.

Donaldson insists his second-half shot off the bar crossed the line before it bounced into Caley Thistle keeper Michael Fraser's arms on Saturday.

Hibs installed cameras at the Caledonian Stadium to help compile statistics for computerised data analysis system ProZone.

And they are adamant their footage clearly shows the ball crossing the line.

Collins feels the decision not to award a goal at 1-0 was crucial in his team's 2-0 defeat.

He says it is only a matter of time before technology is introduced to assist officials and Donaldson agrees.

The striker said:"I've seen the incident from our own camera and the Setanta one and I'm still convinced the ball went over the line.

"Since the first mention of the possibility of cameras in the goals, I have said they could help.

"If we had been given the goal we would have taken something from the game.

"Cameras on the line would not damage the game and if they stop teams being denied a goal like we were then I'm all for it."

Collins said: "Tennis and cricket have them so goalline cameras in football should be straightforward."
