FALKIRK striker Michael Higdon has warned his team-mates they must pick up points in the next two games or face a nightmare three-week lay-off wallowing in the relegation mire. The Bairns are only four points clear of bottom dogs Gretna and head to Aberdeen today hoping to haul themselves out of trouble by securing a first win at Pittodrie since 1958. John Hughes' men then face a massive match at home to Gretna on Saturday before having an incredible three weeks off. The club's planned fixture against Celtic on November 10 has been postponed to aid Scotland's cause against Italy the following Saturday. It means Falkirk are not back in action until hosting Rangers on November 24. And Higdon knows the enforced lay-off will be miserable for the players unless they return to winning ways. He said: "We're in a fight at the bottom and if we don't get results in the next two games the three weeks off will be like six. "It is ridiculous how long it will drag on for. But if we win our games the place will be bouncing and it will be a completely different environment." Higdon scored four goals in his first 12 games after a summer switch from Crewe. But like Falkirk themselves the big Englishman has since failed to hit top gear during a four-match winless run. The 24-year-old, however, is confident his side will soon get back on track. Higdon said: "We're all positive. The manager believes in the way we play and hopefully we can start progressing again as a team. "There are some good players here and we're not far away from turning things round." |
