BORN-AGAIN Benji sparked an amazing revival to salvage a point for never-say-die Hibs. United looked home and dry after a headed double from David Robertson. But the Moroccan blasted Hibs back into the match and Mickael Antoine-Curier grabbed an unlikely point from the penalty spot with 10 minutes left. Benji, who was sidelined during Ramadan because of concerns that fasting could affect his fitness, said: "I last played for Hibs two months and 22 days ago precisely - so I am delighted to be back. "Fans have come to me in the supermarket asking where have I been. And the reception I got from them was great - so I'm dedicating this point to my well wishers. "We showed good discipline to come back and I am looking forward to the next game." Hibs started brightly and Steven Fletcher missed the first of many chances inside 60 seconds, drilling wide after being sent clear by Ross Chisholm. The want-away striker's overhead kick flew over from Alan O'Brien cross in the 12th minute then Fletch set up O'Brien who fluffed his shot high into the stand. It took United 15 minutes before they forced a save from Yves Ma-Kalambay - the giant keeper dealing easily with Morgaro Gomis' daisy-cutter. A bone-jarring 50-50 challenge between Chris Hogg and Jon Daly in 19 minutes resulted in both needing lengthy treatment. The United striker came off worst with ankle ligament damage and was replaced by Garry Kenneth. It was a sickening blow for Daly playing in only his second game following a six-month lay-off - and he is likely to be out for two more months. Lee Wilkie moved up front, resulting in a bruising battlewith fellow giant Rob Jones and Wilkie - right up to the dying moments when Jones stuck out his left leg to deny the United captain and save the day. Wilkie's height was a threat and on the half hour he sent a looping header towards the far post that landed on top of the net. But Hibs had the better chances with Zemmama forcing a wonder save from United keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski. And in the 39th minute a David Murphy free-kick was headed across goal by Jones but the sliding Fletcher could only watch in agony as his effort hit the inside of the post from two yards out. Fletcher had another chance immediately after the restart when Kevin McCann's shot was blocked and fell into his path - but he fired woefully wide. A glorious through ball from Zemmama picked out Fletcher but again he was foiled by United's Polish stopper. However, United were a danger on the break and got their reward in the 65th minute. Sean Dillon's wicked cross was met by onrushing Robertson and he nodded home. And the Arabs went further ahead in the 73rd minute with a virtually identical goal. This time Willo Flood sent the ball over - and Robertson again picked his spot in the top corner with a glancing header. Hibs fans headed for the exits - but they will regret that decision this morning. Benji, who replaced Chisholm, pulled one back in 76 minutes. Zemmama's deflected shot fell into his path and Benji dummied his marker, switched on to his right foot then drilled low into a corner. And in 80 minutes Hibs were back on level terms when David Murphy was caught by Dillon. Ref Willie Collum ruled it was a scoring chance and flashed the red card at the United defender. Sub Antoine-Curier sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot for the equaliser. Hibs boss John Collins said: "We showed great spirit and belief to come back. "It is the third time we have been two down at home and fought back. The players can go and hide and you can lose three or four - or they buckle down, roll up their sleeves and keep believing in themselves. "I am delighted for Benji to come back with a goal. He will be like a new signing for us." REF WATCH WILLIE COLLUM appeared to be in control of the game but then all hell broke loose in the second-half resulting in eight bookings and a sending off. But the whistler was only following the laws of the modern game. RATING: 6/10.
