Champions League Crunch Night

CELTIC

Artur Boruc 7

Looked as shocked as anyone when Filippo Inzaghi headed straight into his arms with goal at his mercy but could do nothing about the striker's goal. Made three great saves afterwards.

Gary Caldwell 7

Every time Celtic attacked he raced up right wing in support and always got back to defend. But passing is poor and once ran ball out of play when he had options. Made a brave block from a shot just after the break. Good night overall.

Steven Pressley 6

Veteran sat deep so that Milan's pace couldn't trouble him. Won just about every high ball and never shirked a challenge but did lose a tackle in midfield which led to the goal.

Stephen McManus 6

Brilliant tackle on Kaka in 17 minutes but put his team in trouble with a wild pass minutes later. Skipper was there when it mattered most however and what a pass to set up Brown for second-half chance.

Darren O'Dea 6

Looked a bit nervous early on but soon settled. Could have prevented a few more crosses being put in but not much came down his wing. Always looked for ball when Celtic had to clear their lines.

Aiden McGeady 7

Superb in first half then faded. Took possession so many times and ran 40 or 50 yards with ball. Skipped past players all night and must have been shattered after a gutsy performance.

Paul Hartley 8

It's now expected Hartley plays well in his new role. Sat in front of back four and without being outstanding, did great job. The ball has a habit of landing at his feet just when the pressure is on and he's so clever he doesn't do anything daft.

Massimo Donati 5

Remains a mystery. Seems to have all the time in world when spreading passes then dallies too long on ball and allows himself to be swamped. Almost sold goal when his dithering let in Inzaghi.

Jiri Jarosik 6

Had side's first shot on goal with a decent effort before half-time. Impressed when he kept possession on left wing and got forward to help out McDonald. Ruined night when he allowed Milan to steal ball from him in the lead up the goal.

Scott Brown 6

Caught between bursting forward and keeping his position. Not involved as he should have been and collected silly booking to miss next game. Should have scored when he was through on goal and went close with another effort.

Scott McDonald 7

On his own up front, yet held ball up like someone twice his size, won headers all night and used the ball intelligently. Ran himself into ground for 65 minutes.

Subs

Jan V of Hesselink 2

Replaced McDonald and gave away a lot of fouls - as if his want. Perhaps should have done better with late header.

Evander Sno 2

On for Donati to shore up midfield and made great block to deny Kaka a goal.

Maciej Zurawski 1

On to run down time.
