SCOTT SEVERIN believes a win in Madrid against Atletico would be on a par with any result Aberdeen achieved in their European heyday under Sir Alex Ferguson. The Dons skipper wants Jimmy Calderwood's men to create their own bit of history. Severin, right, said: "If we can beat Atletico in their own stadium that would have to be right up there with any of the results we achieved in the early 1980s. It would be absolutely massive for us when you compare the size of the two clubs. "This club has a tremendous history in Europe and if things go to plan on Thursday maybe we can create our own bit of history just like that great Dons side of the 80s. "We know we have a chance of producing a wee bit of history and that is a motivating factor for the team." |
