Woman able to decide on pregnancy

A young woman with learning difficulties has the capacity to decide whether to continue or terminate a pregnancy, the High Court has ruled. A judge made the declaration after concerns were raised that it might be appropriate for the Court of Protection to intervene and decide what is in the woman's best interests. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, suffers from sickle cell disease which has already caused her to have a string of strokes.
