Rihanna unveils fashion collection

04:05, Feb 16 2013

Music superstar Rihanna is hoping to attract "fashion gods" this weekend as her collection for River Island is showcased at London Fashion Week.

The pop star's spring/summer 2013 clothes and accessories will be revealed to the world for the first time on Saturday - on a catwalk in the capital.

Earlier this week she expressed her excitement about her foray into the fashion world, and said she was looking forward to fans finally seeing her designs.

She said on Twitter: "My first fashion show!!! My designs will walk the catwalks of London Fashion Week in days!! It's gonna be MAJAH! #RihannaForRiverIsland."

She added: "Fashion gods will be in the building!! #FRONTROWLIFE #YouCantSitWithUs #RihannaForRiverIsland Can't wait for you to see it!!!"

The highly anticipated collaboration will not reach stores until March 5, but the show will give fans an idea of what to expect. It is not known who will attend, but it is thought a few familiar faces will take their seats at the side of the runway to see what Rihanna has to offer.

When the collaboration was announced, Rihanna said: "Launching at London Fashion Week is a dream come true for me. I have wanted to design my own collection for a long time and to present my collection for River Island alongside all of the other great design talent at LFW is a real privilege.

"I can't wait to see the reaction from my fans and the fashion press."

Ben Lewis, River Island chief executive, said: "We are very excited to present our Rihanna for River Island collection at London Fashion Week. This is the perfect platform to showcase Rihanna's design talent and ambition."

The range will also be available in Opening Ceremony stores in the United States and Japan.
