New lottery millionaires record set

19:05, Jul 29 2012

A new record has been set for the number of millionaires made in one night.

Seventy-six lucky winners of the Euromillions Millionaire Raffle draw have come forward to claim their prize - smashing the previous record of 25 millionaires made in one night on December 23, 2011.

But the National Lottery is still searching for the missing 24 winners. One hundred lucky ticketholders became millionaires in the special draw to mark the Olympics opening ceremony on Friday.

A National Lottery spokesman said: "This draw was always going to be a record-breaker and it has now crossed the line and set a new mark for the National Lottery.

"It is amazing to have made 76 millionaires in one night but there are still 24 more millionaires to come forward and claim their prize.

"We urge all EuroMillions players to check their tickets - they could be poised to help set the biggest world record of the summer.

"In addition to creating so many overnight millionaires, this special draw has helped boost the £30 million plus raised for National Lottery Good Causes by players every week."

Players can check to see whether they are a millionaire by going to www.national-lottery.co.uk or visiting any National Lottery retailer.
