Man shot dead in housing estate

01:05, Feb 10 2012

A man in his 20s was shot dead at his home in Co Donegal.

The victim was originally from the Waterside area of Londonderry but had moved over the border to Buncrana where he was gunned down.

The shooting took place at a house at the Links View estate after 9pm on Thursday.

Raymond McCartney, Sinn Fein Stormont Assembly member for Foyle, condemned the murder.

"There is shock in the community on hearing the news of the murder of this young man in Buncrana," he said.

"His life has now been cut short and a family has now been plunged into grief and despair.

"People north and south have rejected these actions; they need to stop immediately."

It is understood a car was found burnt out near Fahan, near Buncrana.
