The son of the former president of Kyrgyzstan was arrested in London after handing himself in, police have said.
Maksim Bakiyev, also known as Maksim Kurmanbekovich, was arrested by officers from Scotland Yard in connection with a request from the US to extradite him to face charges relating to fraud.
The 34-year-old had voluntarily attended Belgravia police station by appointment, police said.
Bakiyev was arrested on a provisional warrant alleging his involvement in two counts of conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in the US between April 2010 and April 2012.
He appeared in custody on that warrant at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
