A police officer has died on a skiing holiday with colleagues in France.

A police spokesman said he was a constable with the force and paid tribute to a "much-loved son, brother and cherished colleague".

Pc Williams - known as Rich to friends and colleagues - was a response officer working with the local policing unit in Wolverhampton.

Chief Inspector Darren Walsh, of Wolverhampton Police, said: "Rich was a much-loved son, brother and a cherished colleague who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We have been informed of the death of a British national in France and consular staff are following up."
