Woman arrested after drugs seized

Police are urging landlords to be on the lookout after cannabis worth more than £30,000 was found at a city centre property.

Officers from Grampian Police seized the drugs from an address in Aberdeen on Thursday following information from a member of the public.

The force said a 28-year-old Estonian woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the cultivation of controlled drugs.

After the find, landlords and the public were asked to inform police if they suspect properties are possibly being used for illegal activity.

Detective Inspector Kevin Walker said: "We are urging landlords and neighbours to be aware of signs which could indicate criminal activity and if they are at all suspicious to tell us and we can help them address the issues.

"These cultivations often involve interference with the properties' electrical installation, which carries an obvious fire risk and risk of electrocution. I would urge members of the public to be aware of the risk and not to investigate themselves."
