A work-to-rule campaign by high-school teachers has been ended with immediate effect, union leaders announced.
The Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association (SSTA) had taken the industrial action in protest against plans to increase the amount of money teachers pay towards their pensions.
However, the union said it had halted the action, which it had started in May, as a result of the Scottish Government's attempt to "broker an acceptable Scottish solution to the public sector pensions dispute".
A statement from the union's executive council explained the move was a "demonstration of good faith" in the SNP administration.
But it said: "The SSTA reserves the right to reinstate the work to contract and further may ballot for other appropriate industrial action."
Members of the teaching union had taken the action after voting by 85% in favour of restricting their labour to the 35 hours specified in their contracts.
When the work-to-rule was announced in May, the SSTA branded the UK Government's public sector pension changes as an "attack on teachers' pensions".
The union said the "most unacceptable" aspect of the changes was the UK Government's plans to link teachers' pensions to the state retirement age, meaning teachers would not be able to receive money from their occupational pension until they reached this age.
The SSTA said it would "continue to campaign in rigorous opposition" to this.
