Probe after woman's road death

A woman has died in hospital after she was struck by a car.

The accident happened on the A96 Forres to Nairn road near Brodie, Aberdeenshire around 9.30pm on Thursday.

The woman was taken to Dr Grays Hospital in Elgin where she later died. The male driver of the car was uninjured, Grampian Police said.

The road was closed while officers investigated the scene and they are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

Police said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and no further details of the woman will be released until her family have been informed.
