Probe after body found in doorway

The death of a man found in a tenement doorway is being treated as unexplained, police have said.

The 46-year-old was found on Chancellor Street in the Partick area of Glasgow at 1.35am on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strathclyde Police said his family has been informed and a post mortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Detective Sergeant Michael McCullagh said: "We are carrying out extensive enquiries including going door to door, to establish what happened to the man.

"The man had his dog with him, which is a bullmastiff type, and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the man or his dog in and around the Chancellor Street area to come forward, or anyone who has any information to contact officers.

"Anyone with any information should contact Partick Police Office on 0141 532 3500. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 08000 555 111 if you prefer to remain anonymous."
