£3m plan to stabilise town hillside

A hillside which threatened to collapse on to the homes beneath will be stabilised through a £3 million funding package, it has been announced.

Engineers will try to alter and pin the slopes of Bervie Braes at Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, weeks after landslips forced some residents to evacuate their properties.

Drainage will be improved and earth works will be carried out to prevent further slips on the cliffs at the back of the town's harbour area.
