Pensioner dies in coach accident

An elderly woman has died after being struck by a coach, police said.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened on the A77 in Ayrshire.

The bus was travelling on the route near its junction with Maybole Road when it struck the elderly woman, who was on the road.

Strathclyde Police said officers are trying to establish how the woman got onto the road. The force has asked anyone who may have seen her on the A77 before the crash to get in touch.

She was wearing black trousers, a blue fleece jacket and black shoes.

No-one on the coach was injured.
