Pedestrian, 79, dies after crash

 

An elderly man has died in hospital after being knocked down, police have said.

The 79-year-old was crossing Main Street in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire at around 5.30pm on Monday when he was struck by a black Ford Kuga.

He was taken to Monklands Hospital in Coatbridge but died later in the night, said Strathclyde Police.

The driver of the car was not injured.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash to call them on 01698 483 000.
