Mountain rescue team recovers body

A body has been found and four people have been rescued in two separate mountain rescue operations.

Crews searching for a 75-year-old man who went missing after becoming separated from his group on Ben Cruachan in Argyll on Saturday night recovered a body on Sunday morning.

Search teams and a helicopter were involved in the operation on the 1,126m-high (3,694ft) Munro, near Loch Awe.

In an unrelated incident about 130 miles away, two climbers were airlifted to hospital with suspected broken legs after they were injured by a rockfall in a gully at Eagle Ridge in Lochnagar, Aberdeenshire.

Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Two other members of their group, who had become trapped on the cliff face, were also led to safety by a search and rescue team on Sunday afternoon.

The incident, near Loch Muick, was reported to Grampian Police at about 12.30pm on Sunday.

Rescue helicopter 137 returned to its base in Lossiemouth shortly after 4pm.
