Man 'serious' after street attack

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted early on Boxing Day.

The 28-year-old was walking on Govan Road, in the Linthouse area of Glasgow at around 12.25am when the assault happened.

He was taken to the Southern General Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

The male suspect is described as white, 6ft tall and of thin build with fair hair which was longer on top and cropped at the back and sides.

He was with another man and a woman with long dark hair. Police said the trio had just got out a black Hackney taxi outside the Gazelle pub.

Detective Constable John Cameron, of Strathclyde Police, said: "Extensive police inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the attack and to establish a motive.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area where the incident took place last night, and either witnessed it take place, or has information that may assist the police investigation to come forward to officers. Information can be given in confidence."
