Man killed in two-vehicle collision

A man has died and a woman and a baby have been airlifted to hospital following a road crash.

The man, in his 30s, was killed in a collision involving two vehicles on the A97 Huntly to Bognie road in Aberdeenshire shortly before 10.40am on Friday.

The woman, in her 20s, and the baby boy were airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary while another male was taken to Jubilee Hospital in Huntly.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The man who died was the driver of a red Fiat Stilo car, carrying the woman and baby as passengers. The second man was driving a grey Land Rover Discovery.

Emergency services including Grampian Police, Grampian Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service attended the scene around five miles from Huntly.

The fire service confirmed they had cut one casualty free from a vehicle.

The road was closed as a result of the incident.

Police said no further details will be released until next of kin are informed.
