Man injured in chip shop incident

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being found seriously injured outside a chip shop.

The 54-year-old was found with head injuries outside the Crew Fish and Chip shop in Longrow, Campbeltown around 1.30am on Saturday.

He was taken to Campbeltown hospital but was later transferred to the Southern General in Glasgow where he is in a critical condition, said Strathclyde Police.

Officers are investigating the incident and have appealed for anyone who saw the man during Friday evening to contact them.

He has not been named but is described as white, Scottish and was wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket.

Detective Sergeant Keith Philip said: "At the moment we are trying to establish how the man came to be injured, and I am appealing for anyone who was around the Longrow area of Campbeltown and may have seen a man matching the description to contact me.

"Longrow is a main road in Campbeltown and I am sure there would have been people returning home from a night out who might have seen or heard something that can help our inquiry."
