Man faces mother murder charge

A man has been charged with murder following the death of his mother.

Graeme Morris, 38, has also been charged with attempted murder after his father was seriously injured in an incident on Friday.

Ann Morris, 63, collapsed following a disturbance at her home in Polo Gardens, Troon, Ayrshire, at about 7.45pm on October 5.

She died a short time after being admitted to Kilmarnock's Crosshouse hospital.

Strathclyde Police said her husband, Fred, 64, sustained serious facial and chest injuries during the incident.

Graeme Morris, whose address was given as Hove, East Sussex, was charged with murder and attempted murder when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody, the Crown Office said.
