Investigation into fatal flat fire

One person has been found dead after a fire at a flat.

Crews were called to the blaze at Anderson Avenue in Aberdeen at 12.20pm on Sunday.

Around 15 firefighters tackled the "well-developed fire" and the body of the elderly person was discovered in the flat, said Grampian Fire and Rescue Service.

A joint investigation between the fire service and Grampian Police is now under way into the circumstances of the blaze.

Police said relatives are aware but no further details about the identity of the person have been released.
