Biker hurt in three-vehicle smash

A motorcyclist is in a serious condition in hospital after a three-vehicle crash.

The collision happened around 3.40pm on Tuesday on the A835 Ullapool to Tore road near Aultguish in the Highlands.

The motorbike, a van and a car were involved in the incident and the 31-year-old biker was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries, Northern Constabulary said.

No-one else was injured in the incident.

The road was closed for around five hours while officers investigated the scene. Police have asked for any witnesses to the crash to contact them on 01463 715555.

Meanwhile, another person was taken to Raigmore Hospital after being cut from a car following a two-vehicle crash on the A862 in Beauly on Tuesday night.

Northern Constabulary warned drivers to drive with extra care due to thick fog in parts of the force area.

A force spokesman urged motorists to drive "at an appropriate speed for the level of visibility" and to dip headlights in fog, as mist can magnify the lights causing a glare for oncoming traffic.
