Amy to sing Pride at Scotland match

Singer Amy Macdonald will perform a song before the start of Scotland's World Cup qualifying campaign, inspired by her experience of leading the national anthem before games.

She said performing her new single Pride for football fans at Hampden before the match against Serbia on Saturday will be amazing.

Flower of Scotland will be sung by Julie Fowlis who contributed to the soundtrack for the Disney/Pixar animated film Brave.

Amy said: "I was inspired to write the song by singing at Hampden, especially the Spain game. That was really the most amazing atmosphere. It is always an honour to sing Flower of Scotland before the games but it was really emotional that day.

"I have sung Pride loads of times before, it is on my new album, but it is going to be amazing to sing it on the exact spot where I've sung Flower of Scotland. I am really looking forward to it. It is a huge privilege."

Julie made her singing debut at Hampden in August last year, before Scotland beat Denmark 2-1, and is hoping to be a lucky charm on Saturday.

"It was a real honour to be asked to sing the national anthem before the game against Denmark, and various members of my family and friends were there to support me on that day. It was a joy to sing with so many voices in the stadium. Let's hope the boys can recreate that win they had over Denmark against Serbia," she said.
