50 jobs created by parcel courier

Fifty jobs are being created by an expansion at a parcel delivery company.

The firm, DPD, is investing £500,000 in a new depot in Dundee and starting up to 50 new routes.

The 2,700 sq ft building in Fowler Road is expected to be operational this month.

DPD already has four depots in Scotland: two in Glasgow and one each in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The Dundee-Perth area is currently served by Edinburgh.

Chief executive Dwain McDonald said: "In recent years we have seen an unprecedented increase in our parcel volumes due mainly to Predict, our unique one-hour time slot service.

"The new depot will improve our capacity in Scotland and is further evidence of DPD's ongoing investment in our infrastructure."
